Welcome to the Chamber Climate Council

Carbon emissions and climate change are at the forefront of the public policy debate today. The U.S. House of Representatives narrowly passed legislation in June to curb U.S. greenhouse-gas emissions. Now attention turns to the U.S. Senate where legislation is scheduled to be considered in October.

The Detroit Regional Chamber is creating a new advocacy outreach program to help chambers shape the legislative debate on climate change.

We support federal legislation to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gases and want to work to ensure the plan enacted by Congress protects consumers and our economy from the impact of unsustainable rate increases.

The Chamber Climate Council (CCC) supports policies that:

• Invest in technologies and alternative energy production methods that provide jobs in communities.

• Create a cap-and-trade system for reducing emissions gradually over time while new technologies are deployed.

• Include energy efficiency incentives to improve productivity, competitiveness, and reduce reliance on imported energy resources

• Prevent costly increases to energy rates that would kill American manufacturing.

Please join the Chamber Climate Council and give your chamber a stronger voice in protecting consumers from a federal regulatory scheme that would impose high and unnecessary costs.
